Preparing for its grand opening, the new St James Theatre received assistance from a Unic mini spider crane, crafting a captivating marble staircase in the reception area.

The Unic URW-295 mini crane, with a capacity of 2.9 tonnes, showcased remarkable precision as it lifted and maneuvered each of the 24 stone sections at the confined Palace Street site in central London. Scheduled to open in September 2012, the newly constructed theatre complex witnessed a stunning performance.

Operating through the reception doorway, this nimble crane strategically placed each marble piece, stacking some sections before securely bolting them together. The distinctive staircase feature, weighing a total of 23 tonnes, consists of larger 2-tonne stone segments at the rear and smaller 1-tonne parts at the front.
